Members of Detective Branch (DB) of police detained an activist of Hefajat-e-Islam from Ramganj of Laxmipur yesterday over an offensive post on his Facebook account about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The detainee is Zakaria Khan (20), a resident of Kabarasthan Road in Chandpur town, reports our Chandpur correspondent.

A DB team from Chandpur picked up Zakaria from a madrasa of Laxmipur's Ramganj upazila in the afternoon, said Md Sanjid Ahmed, inspector of Chandpur DB.

Zakaria made an offensive post on his Facebook account about the prime minister, said the inspector, adding that he later deleted the post but it went viral.

The process of filing a case against him under the Digital Security Act is underway, added the police official.
