Lightning strikes kill 2, injure 1 in Thakurgaon

Two people, including a 10-year-old boy, were killed and another injured by a lightning strike at Durlavpur village in Ranisankail of Thakurgaon this afternoon while they were fishing.

The deceased were identified as Alim, (20), and Roni, (10), while Abdur Rauf, (25), of the same village received severe injuries.

Quoting locals, SM Jahid Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Ranisankail police station, said lighting struck around 3:00pm when a group of people were fishing at a local water body. It left the two dead and one critically-injured.

They were brought to Ranisankail Upazila Health Complex.

Rauf was transferred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated and is now undergoing treatment there, the OC said.
