Mother of 3 gang-raped in Patuakhali; 3 jailed

Three youths gang-raped a woman  in Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali.

The woman, aged around 42, and a mother of three, was raped by the three when she was returning from her husband's workplace at a local market in Srinagar area on Saturday evening, according to the statement of a case filed over the incident.

Locals rescued her after hearing her screams, Shawkat Anwar Islam, officer-in-charge of Mirzaganj Police Station, said quoting the case statement.

Later, police arrested three people after the victim filed the case on Saturday. The arrestees are Jalil Hawladar, 32, Raja, 30, and Sajib Sikder, 26.

The arrestees were sent to Mirzaganj Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court this noon and the court later sent them to jail.

The victim was sent to Patuakhali General Hospital for medical test, the OC added.
