Thousands of passengers have remained stuck on Dhaka-Tangail highway for hours since early today due to a 20-kilometre tailback.

The highway is witnessing the gridlock on the highway as a truck broke down at Natiyapara in Mirzapur upazila around 3:00am, our Tangail correspondent reports quoting Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Gorai highway police outpost.

Vehicular movement remained completely halted until the truck was removed from the highway around 7:00am, causing the traffic jam to stretch from Chandra intersection in Gazipur to Natiyapara.

Vehicles started to move slowly after removal of the truck, the OC said.
