Rangamati cop dead by colleague’s accidental shot

A police constable was shot dead in accidental fire from his colleague in Sukhi Nilganj Police Lines of Rangamati today.

Deceased Purna Barua, 22, a constable of the police lines, hailed from Raujan of Chittagong.

Purna sustained bullet wounds when another constable Sourav Barua, 24, was loading his gun around 12noon, said Syed Tariqul Hasan, superintendent of police (SP) in Rangamati.

He was rushed to Sadar General Hospital with bullet injuries in his waist. He succumbed to his injuries around 1:00pm, our Bandarban correspondent reports quoting the SP.
