Savar residents demand steps to save Bongshi and Dhaleshwari rivers

Residents of Savar today formed a human chain demanding immediate steps to save the Bongshi and Dhaleshwari rivers from grabbers and pollution.

They also urged the government to conduct immediate drives to evict all illegal structures on the Bongshi river bank, reports our Savar correspondent. 

Under the banner of "Nodi O Poribesh Unnayan Parishad", a Savar-based social organisation, around a thousand people -- holding several placards -- joined the human chain in Savar Thana Stand area around 10:00am and held a brief rally there.

Later, they demonstrated again on boats on the rivers.
