Three held for killing teenager

A Netrakona court yesterday sent three people to jail in connection with a case for killing a teenager in Durgapur upazila on Monday.

Earlier on Tuesday night, police detained Nabi Mia, 18, Alal Mia, 24, and Towhid Mia, 20, of Titli Charpara village in the upazila, and produced them before the court yesterday noon.

Quoting the case statement, Officer in Charge of Durgapur Police Station Shahnoor E Alam said Nabi, son of Abdul Kadir, locked in an altercation with one Masum Mia, 18, son of Moyezuddin of the same area, over a family feud on Monday afternoon.

As a sequel to the feud, Nabi, a day labourer, and some of his accomplices strangled Masum, also a day labourer, the same night and dumped the body in a local waterbody.

The next morning, locals spotted Mausm's body in the waterbody and informed the police, who recovered it and sent it to Netrakona General Hospital for autopsy.
