Police arrested an alleged top leader of an international human trafficking gang in Ukhia upazila of Cox's Bazar this morning.

Acting on a tip-off, a plain-clothes policemen personnel from Inani outpost caught Rustom Ali, 45, from Sonarpara bazar area of Sonaichhari village around 8:00am, said Premananda Das, a sub-inspector and assigned in-charge of the police outpost.

Police had been looking for Rustom for long in seven cases filed against him on various charges including human trafficking, the police official told our Cox's Bazar correspondent.

Rustom first began working in a fishing trawler and then gradually got involved in the human trafficking, he added.
