Dhaka's rail links with northern and southern districts of Bangladesh were severed from this afternoon after an inter-city train derailed in Pabna.

Four carriages of Drutojan Express derailed while entering Chatmohar Railway Station around 3:00pm, our local correspondent reports quoting Shawkat Jamil, divisional traffic officer (DTO) of Bangladesh Railways (west zone).

The rail communication is expected to resume by 7:00pm to 8:00pm, DTO said adding that reason behind the derailment could not be known immediately.

Thousands of Dhaka goers and returnees are staying in different stations as four intercity trains stranded different stations due to the derailment.
