Ten Rohingyas fleeing Bhasan Char and three brokers were detained today from Chattogram's Mirsharai upazila.

Ten Rohingyas fleeing Bhasan Char and three brokers were detained today from Chattogram's Mirsharai upazila.

According to police, they fled Bhasan Char with the help of a local broker and tried to go to Malaysia, reports our Chattogram correspondent.

With the 10, a total of 39 Rohingyas have so far been held as they were fleeing Bhasan Char, said police sources.

The detainees are -- seven females and three children. The three arrested brokers are -- Belal Hossain (28), Md Jewel (20) and Didarul Alam (21).

"They fled from Bhasan Char by boat and landed at Mirsharai Economic Zone area in the upazila," Nur Hossain Mamun, officer-in-charge of Sandwip Police Station, told The Daily Star.

"During interrogation, they told police that brokers from Noakhali and Sandwip helped them flee Bhasan Char," the OC added.

Police have filed a case against them under The Foreigners Act, 1946.
