12 members of ‘youth gang’ arrested in Tongi

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed to have arrested 12 members of a local youth gang for their alleged involvement in an attack on two families in Tongi of Gazipur.

Rajib Chowdhury Bappi alias London Bappi and Moin Uddin Nirob alias Don Nirob, patronisers of the youth gang named "D company @ Daring Company" were among the arrestees, our Gazipur correspondent reports quoting a Rab official.

They were arrested from different areas of Tongi and Uttara of the capital after raid were conducted there from midnight to early today, said Lt Col Abdul Mottakin, commanding officer of Rab-1.

The Rab official said during primary interrogation, they confessed to be members of the youth gang. They were allegedly involved in different illegal activities including eve-teasing, mugging, extortion and robbery.

They also admitted to the allegation of attacking the members of two families in Tongi, added the Rab official.
