9 men suspected to be robbers held with weapons, drugs in Savar

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today said they have detained nine members of an inter-district robbery gang and recovered eight homemade weapons and drugs from them in Ashulia of Savar.

A team of Rab-4 conducted a drive in Ashulia's Kundulbag area last night on information that a robbery gang took position in the area to commit robbery, said Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury, assistant director (media) of the battalion in a press release.

During the drive, the Rab team detained the nine men and recovered eight homemade weapons, 266 pieces of yaba, 11 mobile phone sets and Tk 19,725 from their possession, the Rab officer added.

The detainees are Ripon Miah (30), Sanowar Hossain (38), Sanowar Hossein Pathan (35), Liton Reza alias Raza (34), Saiful Islam (32), Ahad Ali (38), Ashraf Ali (40), Al Amin (25) and Rokonuzzaman (34), reports our Savar correspondent.
