Savar police in a drive today rescued a nine-year-old from the Nabagram Bengur area in Manikganj district five days after he was abducted on April 23 from Savar's Karnapara area.

Police also arrested three people for their alleged involvement with the abduction, reports our Savar correspondent quoting police.
The victim was identified as Estefaq, son of Zahidur Rahman, from Bangamarichar village under Gouripur Police Station in Mymensingh district. He is a student of a local madrasa and lives in Karnapara area of Savar with his family.
The arrestees are Habu Miah (40), Badsha (34), and Karim Bepari. All of them are from Manikganj.
The victim's family lodged a General Diary with Savar Model Police Station after the student was kidnapped.
"The accused abducted the Estefaq around 11:00 am on Friday. They demanded Taka 1 lakh as ransom from the victim's family over a phone call," Hamidur Rahman, sub-inspector of Savar Model Police Station, who led the rescue operation, told The Daily Star.
"The accused confessed to their crime to police during the primary interrogation and admitted that they usually abduct children and collect ransom from their families and they have been carrying out such criminal activities for a long time," added the SI.
