A thana level leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League was hacked to death in Singair upazila of Manikganj.

A thana level leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League was hacked to death in Singair upazila of Manikganj.

The deceased was identified as Faruk Hossian Miru, general secretary of Singair unit of BCL.

Faruk, a former vice president of Singair Government College, was heading home on a motorcycle after attending a programme around 1:00am when a group of at least eight youths attacked him, leaving him critically injured, said Shahidur Rahman, joint secretary of Singair Upazila unit Awami League.

 He was rushed to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation in Dhaka where he breathed his last around 1:00pm today.

Rakibuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Sigair Police Station, said police are trying to arrest the attackers.

Before his death, the victim told his family members that upazila unit Sramik League leader Angur Hossain and his younger brother Dulal Hossain, general secretary of Singair Degree College unit BCL, led the attack following a feud over establishing supremacy, Shahidur said quoting deceased's family.

Angur and Dulal could not be reached for comments.
