Death of college student: Legal notice served on govt seeking action against Bashundhara MD

A Supreme Court lawyer today served a legal notice to the government seeking legal action after a forensic review of phone conversations between a college student found dead in a Gulshan flat and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir, who is accused of abetting her suicide.
Lawyer Yeadia Zaman sent the legal notice by post making the home secretary the respondent.
According to the conversations that have gone viral on social media since the victim was found dead on April 26, Anvir used borderline abusive language with the victim, which is disrespectful for any female, the lawyer mentioned in the legal notice.
The legal notice asked the home secretary to make a forensic review of the call record and to take legal action against Bashundhara MD Anvir under the DSA or any other law of the country if it is found in the forensic review that he [Anvir] used abusive words with the victim.
She added that police already have the call records of the conversations.
She will wait for the home secretary's action to this effect and then will send him another legal notice to know about the progress of forensic review of the call records, Yeadia told The Daily Star.
"I will take appropriate legal steps if the home secretary does not act in line with the requirement of my legal notice," she added.
