DU student Hafizur’s death: Police quizzing two friends

Police have started interrogating two friends of Dhaka University student Hafizur Rahman over his death.
Hafizur (24) was a student of Information Science and Library Management of 2015-16 session. He was also the general secretary of Mime Action, an association of mime artists.
Mamun Or Rashid, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station, began quizzing two of Hafizur's friends at the police station around 10pm last night, sources at the police station told The Daily Star.
One of them is a student of DU and the other is a student of Dhaka College.
Talking to The Daily Star this evening, OC Mamun Or Rashid said "Two friends of Hafizur are now at the police station. They are being interrogated. Police have already received some important information. This information will help to progress the investigation into the incident. "
He also said "We will be able to know the real reason behind the death of Hafizur after receiving the autopsy report."
Before his disappearance, Hafizur was hanging out with some friends including the two at Curzon Hall of Dhaka University on the evening of May 15, according to other friends of Hafizur.
Meanwhile, students of DU Information Science and Library Management Department held a protest programme for the second day today demanding a proper investigation into the death of Hafizur Rahman.
Hafizur returned to Dhaka from Brahmanbaria on May 15, a day after Eid, and informed his family that he had reached safely.
His family later found his phone switched off and failing to communicate with him or trace his whereabouts, filed a general diary with Brahmanbaria's Kasba Police Station.
Later, Shahbagh police was informed about Hafizur going missing.
Hafizur Rahman's brother identified his body at Dhaka Medical College morgue on Sunday.
