Ex-Ducsu VP Noor sued for 'hurting religious sentiments' of AL activists, supporters

A case has been filed against former Ducsu VP Nurul Haque Nur for hurting religious sentiments of Awami League activists, supporters and defaming the party with derogatory comments during a Facebook live session on April 14.

Mamun ur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station confirmed the development to The Daily Star tonight.

Barrister Md Ashraful Islam Shojib, member of Jubo League Central Committee, filed the case under Digital Security Act against Nur with Shahbag Police Station today, said the OC.

According to the case statement, the complainant said Nur spoke on Facebook live around 4:37pm on April 14, hurting religious sentiments of Awami League activists and supporters.

During the Facebook live, Nur called supporters and leaders of Awami League "fake Muslims".

The video link was shared and posted by a large number of Facebook accounts, Ashraful said in the statement.

In the statement, the plaintiff also demanded to bring the accused and his associates or supporters under the law.
