Hefajat mayhem in Ctg: Ex-Jamaat MP Shah Jahan Chowdhury on 3-day remand

Jamaat-e-Islami leader Shah Jahan Chowdhury, also former lawmaker of Chattogram-15, from Satkania upazila of Chattogram has been placed on a three-day remand in a case filed with Hathazari police station over Hefajat-e-Islam’s mayhem on March 26 during the protests against Indian PM Modi's visit.

Jamaat-e-Islami leader Shah Jahan Chowdhury, also former lawmaker of Chattogram-15, from Satkania upazila of Chattogram has been placed on a three-day remand in a case filed with Hathazari police station over Hefajat-e-Islam's mayhem on March 26 during the protests against Indian PM Modi's visit.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahriar Iqbal placed him on a three-day remand after he was produced before the court with seven-day remand prayer showing him arrested in a violence case, said Chattogram court sources.

The news of his remand was also confirmed by Additional Police Superintendent Abdullah Al Masum. 

"The jamaat leader was held from his residence today at Samdarpara of Satkania municipality over the Hefajat-e-Islam mayhem that took place at Hathazari on March 26 and 27," said Abdullah Al Masum, additional superintendent of Chattogram district police.
