Man hacked dead over land dispute in Cox’s Bazar

A man was hacked to death over a land-related dispute in Cox's Bazar town yesterday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim, son of Nurul Islam of the district's Chowdhurypara, reports our Cox's Bazar staff correspondent.
Inspector Anwar Hossain, in-charge of Cox's Bazar Police camp, said police came to know that Rahim had a longstanding dispute with his siblings over ancestral land.
Around 4:00pm yesterday, they again started quarreling over the issue.
At one stage, Rahim's younger brothers Tareq, Ibrahim, Ibrahim's wife Munni and others attacked Rahim with sharp weapons and sticks, leaving him seriously injured.
Locals took Rahim to the District Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said the police official.
Police are trying to arrest those involved in the incident, added inspector Anwar Hossain.
