A group of miscreants snatched the main accused of a murder case, Raju Biswas (34), from a lawyer on the way to District Judge's Court in Jashore city.

The incident took place in front of the court today around 11:30am but police said, they know nothing about it. Raju is the main accused in the case over murder of van driver Shukur Ali of Dhopadi village in Abhaynagar upazila, said our correspondent.

Raju's lawyer Tajmilur Rahman Sardar Swapan said, Raju came to him for surrendering to the court today. After completing the necessary work, they were headed to the court from the Bar Association. A group of miscreants snatched Raju and fled in a car when they reached the court, he said. Swapan rushed to the court and informed the judge, seeking help from the administration to rescue Raju, he added.

Jashore Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Tajul Islam, said, "I have no information about the abduction."

Earlier on April 3, Shukur Ali went to Raju's workshop to get his van repaired. After repair, he left saying that he will pay the bill of Tk 30 on his way back from work.

On the way back in the evening, there was an argument between them when Raju asked for the bill. Later at one point, Raju got excited and hit Shukur Ali on the head with a wrench.

Locals rescued Shukur and took him to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead. His wife Anwara Begum filed a case against Raju after the incident but Raju was missing since then.
