A ninth-grader was injured in an acid attack in Pekua upazila of Cox’s Bazar yesterday, family sources said.

A ninth-grader was injured in an acid attack in Pekua upazila of Cox's Bazar yesterday, family sources said.

The injured, Mahima Akter (15), daughter of Kabir Hossain of Uzantia Notun Para village, was rushed to the local upazila health complex. Afterwards, she was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

She suffered serious burn injuries on her face, our Cox's Bazar correspondent reports quoting the victim's father.

Her father said some masked people threw acid on Mahima through a window when she was watching television at her house in the evening.

Police could not be reached for comments in this regard.
