Proof of rape, involvement with foreign and domestic militants found against Mamunul: N’ganj SP

Police have found proof of rape and involvement with foreign and domestic militants against former Hefajat-e-Islam central joint secretary general Mamunul Haque while interrogating him during the 18-day remand in six cases filed over rape and violence, said Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Zayedul Alam today.
Mamunul led the sabotage during the strike on March 28 owing to his desire to enjoy state power, said the SP during a press briefing at his office today according to our Naryanganj correspondent.
"We are looking at the rape accusation seriously. We have analysed the statement the victim gave and the things Mamunul said during interrogation. And we have found similarity between both of their answers.
"Mamunul was unable to give any proof of his marriage with the victim," added the SP.
"We have found some important information during the interrogation. We will further scrutinise that information," Zayedul also said.
A Narayanganj court sent Mamunul Haque to Kashimpur Central Jail yesterday on completion of his 18-day remand.
The district police, PBI, and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) interrogated Mamunul during his remand.
Police arrested Mamunul on April 18 from Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrasa in Dhaka's Mohammadpur. On May 18, he was brought to Narayanganj from central jail for interrogation.
