Shahinuddin murder: Two more accused sent to jail after confessional statements
Two more accused confessed to a magistrate today that they were directly involved with the murder of trader Shahinuddin in the capital's Pallabi area on May 16.
The accused are Mohammad Sharif and Iqbal Noor.
In their statements, Sharif and Noor told the magistrate that they took part in the murder under the leadership of Sumon Bepari as per the direction of former lawmaker from Lakshmipur MA Awal.
Earlier, four accused including Sumon Bepari gave their confessional statements before magistrates on different dates.
Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khair Jesi recorded Sharif and Noor's confessional statements after Investigation Officer Inspector Syed Iftekhar Hossain of Detective Branch of police produced them at her chamber on completion of their four-day remand.
After recording their statements, the magistrate sent them to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
On May 16, a group led by Sumon Bepari stabbed Shahinuddin to death in front of his seven-year-old son at Mirpur-12 over a land dispute with MA Awal.
Police have so far arrested 11 people, including Awal, in connection with the murder.
