7 eminent artistes to receive Ekushey Padak this year

Twenty-four eminent personalities will get the country's second highest civilian award, the Ekushey Padak, this year in recognition of their contributions to various fields.

Twenty-four eminent personalities will get the country's second highest civilian award, the Ekushey Padak, this year in recognition of their contributions to various fields.

The Cultural Affairs Ministry announced the names today.

Seven personalities will receive the award for their contribution to the arts. 

Zeenat Barkatullah has been selected for her contribution to dance, while Nazrul Islam Babu (posthumous) and Iqbal Ahmed have been selected for their contribution to music. Mahmudur Rahman Benu will also be presented with the award for his contribution to music. 

Khaled Mahmud Khan (posthumous), Afzal Hossain, and Masum Aziz will be honoured for their contribution to the field of acting.
