Vince McMahon steps down as WWE CEO

Vincent Kennedy McMahon, better known to many as Vince McMahon, has stepped down from the role of CEO. This is after he rumours emerged of McMahon paying “hush money” to cover up an affair with a former WWE employee.

The board of directors of WWE are now conducting an investigation into the situation to determine what will happen next for McMahon’s position in the company. A press release issued by WWE earlier today mentioned that McMahon’s daughter, Stephanie McMahon, will be taking on the role of interim CEO and Chairman of the Board in his absence. Vince McMahon will still be in charge of WWE creative.

McMahon has stated that he will cooperate and support the ongoing investigations into these allegations. An independent legal counsel has been hired on retainer to assist with the full investigation that will also delve into the company's compliance programme, and overall culture.

"I have pledged my complete cooperation to the investigation by the special committee, and I will do everything possible to support the investigation," said McMahon in the statement. "I have also pledged to accept the findings and outcome of the investigation, whatever they are."
