Dr Israfeel Shaheen receives Syed Mohidul Islam award

Commemorating the legacy of thespian Syed Mohidul Islam, a five day-long event "Mohidul Islam Sharan Utsab 2022” is underway at Bangladesh Shipakala Academy from November 4 onwards.

This year, the ‘Mohidul Islam Padak’ has been conferred to theatre personality and professor of Dhaka University’s Theatre and Performance Studies department, Dr Israfeel Shaheen.

Commemorating the legacy of thespian Syed Mohidul Islam, a five day-long event "Mohidul Islam Sharan Utsab 2022" is underway at Bangladesh Shipakala Academy from November 4 onwards.

This year, the 'Mohidul Islam Padak' has been conferred to theatre personality and professor of Dhaka University's Theatre and Performance Studies department, Dr Israfeel Shaheen.

The event will also be presenting the 'The Manchabandhu Padak, and The Jugol' honorary awards.

The event, organized by Batikrom Natya Goshty, is in honour of Mohidul Islam's 20th death anniversary and the troupe's 46th anniversary. It features various cultural activities—including musical performances, dance recitals, and theatrical plays.

Renowned theatre persona M Hamid and Ananta Hira, amongst many renowned personalities, attended the event.

Prior to the award, there was a commemorative discussion and exhibition of the documentary 'Abhinay Guru', made on Syed Mohidul Islam. Afterwards, the audience enjoyed the drama 'Tapasvi and Tarangini', presented by Lok Natya theater troupe.
