Nagorik Natya Sampradaya honours Aly Zaker’s legacy

In honour of celebrated actor, thespian, director, and cultural activist Aly Zaker's 77th birth anniversary, Nagorik Natya Sampradaya organised an event, titled "Smritite Smarane", at the National Theatre Hall, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) yesterday.

Hosted by celebrated actor and Member of Parliament Asaduzzaman Noor, the programme began with a dance-tribute by Tahnina Islam Jhumi.

The event was held in four sessions, with eminent artistes Abul Haya and Ferdousi Mazumder, along with noted writer Abdus Selim, remembering the legend.

Rabindra Sangeet exponent Rezwana Choudhury Bannya performed the song "Tumi Daak Diyecho Kon Shokale", while Ahkam Ullah recited the poem "Nirjhorer Shopnobhongo", written by Rabindranath Tagore.

The next segment featured memorial speeches by Ekushey Padak-winning actor Ataur Rahman, eminent author Anwara Syed Haq, and celebrated filmmaker Nasiruddin Yousuff.

Priyanka Gope presented the song "Tumi Nirmol Koro" and popular elocutionist Shimul Mustapha recited the poem "Aath Bochor Agay Ekdin".

Playwright Masum Reza and Aly Zaker's son noted television personality Iresh Zaker took to the stage to share their memories. Farhin Khan Joyita sang the song "Muktir Mondir Shopan Tole" and Tropa Majumdar's presented the poem "Shei Orunodoyed Theke".

Renowned thespian Ramendu Majumdar, National Award winning actor Tariq Anam Khan and Aly Zaker's wife, celebrated actress-director-social activist Sara Zaker, shared their treasured memories with the legend.
