Money Honey: The OTT trendsetter receives a director's cut
Filmmaker Tanim Noor is set to relaunch critically acclaimed web series "Money Honey". The Hoichoi crime thriller's director's cut was released today.
Jointly directed by Tanim Noor and Krishnendu Chattopadhyay, the production features Mostafizur Noor Imran, Naziba Basher, Shamol Mawla, Lutfur Rahman George, Sumon Anwar and Nishat Priyom.
Released in 2019, "Money Honey" is one of the first few Bangladeshi web productions to gain renown. "When we released it during Eid-ul-Fitr in 2019, the Bangla speaking audience was yet to get habituated with the concept of online streaming platforms," shares Noor.
"As the pandemic made its way, our viewers started looking for good online based content, and OTTs have emerged as a preferred source of entertainment for them. Thus, we decided to relaunch it in a new format to reach the audience we believe it deserves," he adds.
Being his debut web series, "Money Honey" marks a turning point for Shamol Mawla. "Our spectators now have developed a thirst for quality content and I feel this production is not less," he says. "I promise 'Money Honey' will not disappoint them."
Inspired by true events, "Money Honey' looks to narrate the backstory of non-criminals falling prey to an economic crisis which leads them to commit a robbery.
Previously narrated in 12 episodes, the new edition will have 8 episodes. Previously edited by Robin Khan, the new version of "Money Honey" has been edited by noted filmmaker Saleh Sobhan Auneem.
"The previous version was non-linear, however, this time the narrative will be more compact and defined," mentions Noor.
"Contract" famed director Tanim Noor is now busy with the pre-productions of his upcoming Hoichoi original "Kaiser".
