The Criminal Investigation Department of Police is going to join the environment ministry's investigation into the deaths of wildlife in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur, said Mostafa Kamal, secretary to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change today.

"CID has a cutting edge lab. They will collect samples of the dead wildlife and submit the report to the investigation committee," he told reporters at the safari park today.

Another three-member committee from the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock will assist the investigation committee in finding out the causes behind the deaths, added the secretary.

Around 11 zebras, one tiger and a lioness died in Gazipur Safari Park in the last month, which the authorities tried to hush up.

When deaths of wildlife came to light, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change formed a five-member committee to investigate the matter.
