6 brick kilns fined Tk 28 lakh for polluting air

The Department of Environment has fined six brick kilns Tk 28 lakh for polluting the environment in Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur yesterday.

The Department of Environment has fined six brick kilns Tk 28 lakh for polluting the environment in Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur yesterday.

The DoE also demolished a brick kiln named Mrs RSS Brick Kiln and ordered it to stop its activities in the residential area, Masud Rana, assistant director of DoE, Jamalpur office, told our local correspondent. 

The fine was imposed after conducting drives at different areas in the upazila till 5:00pm, he said.

The brick kilns that have been fined include Mrs RSS Bricks, Rupashi Bricks, Akash Bricks and Sinha Bricks.

The drives, led by Rubel Mahmud, executive magistrate and deputy director at Mymensingh divisional DoE office, were conducted as part of the campaign against environmental pollution and to promote environmental protection activities, Rana added.

Jamalpur district police and fire service officials assisted the drives.
