‘Address rise in temp with urgency’

Authorities should address the rising temperatures in Dhaka and other cities with urgency, said speakers at a roundtable yesterday.

Initiatives must also be taken to deal with local factors that contribute to overheating, such as tree felling, encroachment of waterbodies, and air pollution, they added.

The recommendations came at a meeting titled "Rising Temperature in Urban Areas: Causes and Solutions", jointly organised by Centre for Study on Atmospheric Pollution of Stamford University and Bangladesh Resources Centre for Indigenous Knowledge at the PIB auditorium in Dhaka.
