DoE Chattogram fines garment factory for filling up pond

Department of Environment (DoE) Chattogram today fined a garment factory Tk 2.16 lakh for filling up pond at Uttar Kattoli area of the port city.

The fine was imposed after a hearing at DoE's Khulshi office.

Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, director of DoE Chattogtam (Metro) told The Daily Star that Vanguard Garment at Uttar Kattoli filled up a pond violating the Environment Conservation Act.

The garment authority was fined Tk 2.16 lakh for the violation and asked to pay the fine within seven days, he added.
