DoE files case against firm over razing hill
Department of Environment (DoE) in Chattogram (metro) has filed a case against a firm for cutting a hill while building a government office in the port city.
The case was filed last night with Khulsi Police Station under Environment Conservation Act-1995, Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, director of DoE in Chattogram (metro), told The Daily Star
Nuri said they filed the case against Md Mohsin, owner of M/S Mohsin and Brothers, who was awarded the contract to build an office for Education Engineering Department in Khulsi area just behind PHP Center along Jakir Hossen Road.
The DoE director said the firm authorities committed to not raze hills in August, but they violated their commitment this month by razing around 4,000 square feet of hills.
"So, we filed the case against the contractor and three others who worked for the firm," Nuri added.
