DoE fines 4 people Tk 6.90 lakh for cutting hills in Ctg

The Department of Environment (DoE) in Chattogram (Metro) fined four people Tk 6,90,000 for cutting hills in the port city.

The fine was imposed after a hearing at DoE office at Khulsi area in Chattogram city, reports our correspondent.

Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, director of DoE Chattogram (Metro), told The Daily Star that four people were fined for cutting hills without approval from DoE.

They are: Nurul Alam from Uttar Kattoli area, Amina Begum from Kotowali, Sabina Begum from Pahartali, and Jahidul Islam from Lalkhan Bazar.

They have been asked to pay the fine within seven days, Nuri added.
