The fine was imposed after a hearing at the DoE office in the Khulshi area of the port city, reports our local correspondent.
Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, director of DoE Chattogram metro, told The Daily Star that two people -- Bahar Uddin and Shamsuddin Badal -- razed 2,400 square feet of hills without obtaining approval from the DoE.
In this regard, two of them were fined Tk 6 lakh each, he added.
Apart from this, a business facility in Hathazari upazila was fined Tk 1 lakh for not obtaining a clearance certificate.
