DoE seals off Ctg polythene factory

Department of Environment (DoE), Chattogram Metro today sealed off a polythene factory in Foteyabad area of Hathazari upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of DoE led by its Deputy Director Mahmudul Haque conducted the drive and shut the factory, reports our Chattogram correspondent.

Mahmudul Haque told The Daily Star that the factory did not have any clearance certificate of the DoE and it was being operated in a residential building at Chorarkhul.

"We sealed off the factory and issued a notice to its owner asking him to appear in a hearing (at DoE) on June 3," he said.
