Department of Environment (DoE) Chattogram today shut down a dyeing factory for polluting Beerja canal by releasing untreated substance into it.

A team of DoE closed down BM Dyeing and Thread factory at East Bakolia today.

Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, director of DoE metro told The Daily Star the factory was fined repeatedly for not having ETP (effluent treatment plant) before.

The factory which also did not renew their environmental clearance was found releasing untreated residue prompting DoE to shut down the factory, he added.
