11 Covid-19 patients die in 2 Khulna hospitals in 24 hours

Eleven people died of Covid-19 at two hospitals in Khulna in the last 24 hours till 8am today.
The two hospitals are Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) and Gazi Medical College Hospital.
Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, resident medical officer and spokesperson of the Covid unit at Khulna Medical College Hospital, said that six patients at the unit died in 24 hours till this morning. All of them were Covid-19 positive.
Till 8am, 165 people were admitted to the unit, and of them 99 are undergoing treatment in red zone, 31 in yellow zone, 20 are in high-dependency unit (HDU) and 19 are at intensive care unit (ICU).
Gazi Medical College Hospital owner Gazi Mizanur Rahman said, five Covid-19 patients died while undergoing treatment at the hospital's Covid unit during 24 hours till 8am.
Besides, ninety-eight patients were receiving treatment during this time at the hospital's Covid unit. Of them, four were in ICU and nine were in HDU, he added.
Khulna Medical College Principal Dr Mehedi Newaz said, last night 464 people were tested for coronavirus infection and 184 of them were found positive.
Of the 184 infected, 132 are from Khulna, 40 from Bagerhat, three from Jashore, three from Satkhira, one from Narail, one from Pirojpur and another is from Dhaka.
The current positivity rate stood at 40 percent, said Dr Mehedi Newaz.
