In 25 hours, 13 people have died in the Covid-19 units of Bogura's Mohammad Ali Hospital and Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

According to sources, seven of the 13 died at Mohammad Ali Hospital and the remaining six died at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, reports our Bogura correspondent.

Medical Officer of the District Civil Surgeon's Office Dr Sajjad-ul-Haq said 11 people died in these two hospitals in Bogura in the 24 hours (till 8am) today. Two others died after 8am, reports our correspondent.

"During the same time, 380 samples were tested in the district and 100 Covid-19 cases were identified. The positivity rate is 26.32 percent," he said.

Mohammad Ali Hospital also reported a shortage of high flow nasal cannula and that is why deaths are on the rise, hospital sources told The Daily Star. Ten patients undergoing treatment at the hospital are in critical condition at the moment.

"We have only two high flow nasal cannulas. But, we have more than 100 non-rebreathing masks and all the patients are getting oxygen from the central line," Superintendent of Mohammad Ali Hospital Dr ATM Nuruzzaman told the Daily Star.
