Govt to get tougher on curbing Covid-19 transmission: health minister

Amid fears of a fresh wave of Covid-19, the government has vowed to take a tougher position to fight transmissions.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque announced this yesterday afternoon at the secretariat.
The ministry has sent letters to the districts with direction on fines as penalties and other punishments for violating health regulations, he said.
After nearly two months, Coronavirus infection number topped the 1,000 mark on consecutive days late last week and today jumped to almost 1,800. "So, the government is again going to take a tougher position," Maleque said.
"Educational institutes were scheduled to resume from March 30, but the closure will be extended if the infection keeps surging at the present rate," Maleque said.
"We are concerned as the infection and death rate of Covid-19 has suddenly hiked," he said, blaming people's negligence in following the health guidelines.
