The religious affairs ministry today asked authorities of all mosques to keep soap or hand sanitisers at the entrance, urged people to perform their ablutions at home and maintain social distance while offering their prayers.

The ministry issued the set of instructions to check the spread of Covid-19 in the country.

All mosques keeping soap or hand sanitisers at the entrance, people maintaining distance while offering prayers and performing their ablutions at home were among a set of instructions issued today by the religious affairs ministry to check the spread of Covid-19 in the country.

According to the instructions, the local administration and law enforcement agencies will take legal measures in case of violations.

Khatibs, imams and mosque operating committees have been asked to ensure that these instructions are followed.

According to the instructions, carpets cannot be laid in mosques during prayers. The entire mosque should be cleaned and disinfected before prayers and every one will have to bring their own prayer mats.

People are advised not to use caps and mats given inside the mosques.

Along with performing their ablutions at home, people will have to wear masks before going to mosques.

Elderly people, children, ailing persons and their caregivers should not come to mosques to offer prayers.

The instructions also said when entering all other religious institutions or places of worship, everyone will have to wear mask, wash hands with hand sanitiser/soap and follow social and physical distancing according to the hygiene rules.
