No ride-sharing on motorcycles: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) yesterday discouraged motorcyclists from sharing rides on their vehicles in an attempt to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

"During movement restrictions people who knew the motorcyclists from before were sharing rides or ridesharing operators were continuing operations. As a result, many different people used the same helmet repeatedly, increasing the risk of coronavirus transmission," said the DMP news portal.

As such, DMP discouraged ride-sharing on motorcycles for emergency movement in the capital.

People were also requested to use rickshaws instead by maintaining health guidelines, added the DMP news portal.

The government has announced seven-day "complete lockdown" which will be enforced across the country from July 1.
