Bangladesh Bank today asked lenders not to impose any interest on credit card bills due on April 1, during the coronavirus pandemic.

If credit card bills are unpaid due to coronavirus and the ongoing shutdown, no interest can be charged on it, the central bank said in a circular issued to the banks.

These instructions will be valid until May 31.

Any bank that has imposed any interest on a credit card holder during this time must make sure to refund it, the notice added.
