Shabab Sarwar was the lone child of Sarwar Hossain, editor, assignment of ATN News Limited.

A student of class three, Shabab was admitted to the hospital on Monday and was referred to the hospital's ICU on the same day, said Arafat Siddique, a senior reporter of ATN News.

Shabab, a resident of Dhaka's Banasree, was put on life support yesterday (Wednesday) and breathed his last at 1:10am today, Arafat said.

According to the death certificate, Shabab died of expanded dengue syndrome.

Dr Nazmul Islam, spokesperson of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), yesterday at a news bulletin said that the dengue situation could turn alarming again and it will be possible to face the situation if necessary measures are taken immediately.

His comment came at a time when the country has seen 1,025 dengue cases just in four days till yesterday.
