184 dengue patients hospitalised in a single day

At least 184 more dengue patients were hospitalised in 24 hours, till 8:00 am today.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), among the 184 new cases of dengue infection, 15 are from outside Dhaka.

With the new cases, a total of 6,646 were diagnosed during the current month.

At least 2,286 patients were hospitalised in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May, according to the DGHS.

According to the DGHS, 40 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year, all in July and August.

Twelve people died in July while 28 have died in August so far.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 1,032 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 127 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
