188 hospitalised with dengue in 24 hours

At least 188 patients were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8:00 am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of them, 30 were outside Dhaka.
In September, 7,841 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country -- the highest in a single month this year.
According to the DGHS report, in total 7,698 were diagnosed in August, 2,286 patients were hospitalised in July, 272 in June, and 43 in May.
With the new cases, a total of 18,550 were hospitalised this year. Of the total infected, 2,367 are from outside Dhaka.
This year, 68 people have so far died of dengue infection in the country -- all in July, August and September.
Twelve people died in July while 34 died in August and 22 in September.
Among the deaths, 63 have died in Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram and Khulna divisions and one in Rajshahi division.
Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 1,004 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 210 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
