190 dengue patients hospitalised in a day

At least 190 patients were hospitalised in 24 hours preceding 8:00 am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of them, 41 were hospitalised outside Dhaka, the DGHS data shows.

With the new cases, a total of 18,197 people were infected with dengue, of which 7,841 were diagnosed during this month. Of the total infected, 2,313 are from outside Dhaka.

At least 7,698 were diagnosed in August; 2,286 patients were hospitalised in July; 272 in June while 43 were infected in May and rest are from January to April, according to the DGHS.

So far 67 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year, all who died in July, August and September.

Twelve people died in July while 34 have died in August and 21 in September so far.

Among the deaths, 62 have died in Dhaka division, two in Chattogram and Khulna divisions and one in Rajshahi division.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 960 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 208 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
