2 more die of dengue

At least two more dengue patients died while 219 patients were hospitalised in the last 24 hours till 8am yesterday. Of them, 52 are from outside the capital, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the new cases, a total of 7,434 were diagnosed during the current month, out of a total of 17,790 infected. Of them, 2,229 are from outside Dhaka.

At least 7,698 people were diagnosed in August, 2,286 were hospitalised in July, 272 in June, while 43 were infected in May.

Meanwhile, 65 people have died of dengue this year. Twelve people died in July, 34 in August, and 19 in September so far.

Among the deaths, 60 have died in Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram division and Khulna, and one died in Rajshahi division.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 954 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 218 outside the capital.
