6 die of dengue, 734 hospitalised

A total of six dengue patients died while 734 others were admitted to different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours till 8:00am today (October 15, 2022).

This is showing an alarming trend in this year's dengue situation as the total number of dengue cases crossed the 24,000-mark which is the third highest number of dengue cases since the first outbreak in Bangladesh in 2000.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) a total of 24, 326 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country this year of which 6,402 are from outside Dhaka.

With the new cases, the total number of deaths this year rose to 89, of which 34 died within 15 days of October.

Of the death cases, 50 are in Dhaka, 21 in Cox's Bazar, 12 in Chattogram, five in Barishal, and one in Narsingdi.
