9 more die of dengue

At least nine dengue patients died while 882 were admitted to different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours till yesterday.

This is the highest number of deaths recorded in a single day this year.

According to the DGHS, the total number of dengue cases has risen to 40,983, and the death toll to 161.

A total of 37,145 patients have already been released, while some 3,676 are still undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Covid Dedicated Hospital at Mohakhali is providing dengue treatment as the number of patients has increased due to untimely rain and climate change.

During a visit to the hospital along with LGRD Minister Tajul Islam, DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam urged people to get  admitted to the hospital if necessary.

"There are 212 ICU beds, but the number of coronavirus patients is very few, for which we have started providing dengue treatment at the hospital," he said.
